Class Descriptions

STREB offers Adult Classes for movers of all levels. Developed by Elizabeth Streb over the last 40+ years, PopAction classes help movers acquire new skills by posing unique challenges: change your base of support in a rapid fire way, physically designate specific locations in vertical and horizontal space, learn to pop the muscles to initiate action (rather than skeletally transferring weight), train for impact, learn to fly with low-to-the-ground maneuvers that increase spatial awareness, and incorporate a timing system that is not musical but physical (“felt timing”). The classes confront issues of falling and fear. STREB operates on a ‘personal best’ philosophy—the technique is approachable and adaptable for all body types, ages, and skill sets. Adult Classes are taught by current and former company members.

POPACTION Technique
(all levels)

Experience the technique that is the foundation of the STREB Extreme Action Company’s creative process. POPACTION intertwines dance, athletics, boxing, rodeo, the circus, and Hollywood stuntwork into a bristling muscle-and-motion vocabulary.

PopAction Bungee 
(due to the equipment constraints, height and weight limits of 6’2″ and 200 lbs maximum)

This apparatus-based class is based on Elizabeth Streb’s “Kiss the Water” Choreography. Each class starts with a PopAction warm up and skill building, then each student experiences the art of the bungee equipment.

Trampoline for POPACTION 
(all levels)

This high-energy class will have you jumping and bouncing to good health and strong muscles. Build and tone muscle while gaining body awareness and having a great time!

STREB REP 
(Prerequisite: Experience in POPACTION classes)

Get ready to POP to the next level! Designed to challenge the intermediate to advanced POPACTION technician, STREB REP is focused on individual as well as group POPACTION proficiency. Come have fun and hone your skills as we revisit works such as “Wall”, “Add”, “Buster”, “Ground Level”, and more!
