ESTA invites kids and adults ages five and up to come develop their Flying Trapeze skills. Single classes are open level for beginner to advanced flyers. All participants are evaluated individually and are taught at their own pace by our trained instructors. Beginners start from the ground up, learn tricks! For more experienced flyers, the España-STREB Trapeze Academy allows students to work more intensively on specific tricks to master the ones they know, and learn the ones they dream of doing! Our team of instructors can help students achieve class goals by giving them tips and techniques to improve their form and personal style. The instructors have varied backgrounds but all are focused on safety and ensuring the students have a great experience.
Noe and Ivan España are the sons of a circus legacy, the fifth generation heirs to an incredible array of España circus talent and history. In the true circus tradition, they are the product of family training and development, much of it taking place in the spotlight before live audiences.
The Españas began performing as young children in their uncle’s Krony Circus in Mexico. Their talents found initial expression on the trampoline, where at an early age each had mastered the double and triple somersaults, and triple twisting somersaults. Even before their teens, they had begun practicing to join the family’s flying trapeze act, and by the end of their teens, they were accomplished stars.
The rest is history, from important bookings with Circus Atayde in Mexico, at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen and at the Sydney Opera House to featured status with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, a prominent appearance in the Lear Levin-Walt Disney Pictures production “Circus,” a Silver Clown award for their performance on the flying trapeze at the International Circus Festival in Monte Carlo, and the 2007 STREB Action Maverick Award.
The range of their repertoire has grown to include everything from the exquisitely graceful bungee trapeze to signature performances on the giant Skywheel and in the motorcycle Globe of Death.
The STREB-España collaboration began in 1998 when Elizabeth Streb joined forces with Noe and Ivan España to create new work that explores their mutual fascination with the possibilities of human flight. Since then, this relationship has taken technical experimentation and innovation to a new level. Noe and Ivan Españas’ contribution to STREB and SLAM can be seen in their custom-designed trapeze rig, the specialized hardware and rigging mechanisms they’ve invented which are at the core of many of Elizabeth’s choreographic explorations and the inspiration and entrée they’ve provided into new worlds of action possibilities.
