STREB offers Adult classes for dance students and professionals. Developed by Elizabeth Streb over the last 20 years, PopAction classes help dancers acquire new skills by posing unique challenges: change your base of support in a rapid fire way, physically designate specific locations in vertical and horizontal space, learn to pop the muscles to initiate action (rather than skeletally transferring weight), train for impact, learn to fly with low-to-the-ground maneuvers that increase spatial awareness, and incorporate a timing system that is not musical but physical (“felt timing”). The classes confronts issues of falling and fear. STREB operates on a ‘personal best’ principle; the method suits all body types, ages, and skill sets. All adult classes are taught by current company members.

POPACTION Technique with Leonardo Giron

Experience the technique that is the foundation of the STREB Extreme Action Company’s creative process. POPACTION intertwines dance, athletics, boxing, rodeo, the circus, and Hollywood stuntwork into a bristling muscle-and-motion vocabulary.

Intro to Acrobatics with Jamarious Stewart
(beginners)

Intro to Acrobatics offers conditioning and training for those new to acrobatics in a personalized and supportive atmosphere. It’s a fun and challenging way to increase overall flexibility, core strength, and body alignment – and grow your acrobatic skill set in the process!

Action Bootcamp with Leonardo Giron

$15/class or $135 for a 10-class card

Join us for NYC’s first indoor action fitness bootcamp! It is a unique class for anyone looking for a fun and challenging way to work out in an environment stocked with extreme hardware and apparatus. Leonardo, certified personal trainer and a seasoned member of the Streb Extreme Action Company, will incorporate interval exercises along with circuit stations and sports drills to offer a total body workout for any person (beginner through advanced) who is ready to take their fitness to the next level. Creative body-weight and resistance exercises, coupled with bursts of cardio intervals, will ensure that you burn at least 400 to 600 calories each class. Achieve your desired results and tap in to your adventurous side with a workout that could only happen at S.L.A.M.!

Parkour with Felix Hess

Wednesdays 7:30PM – 9:30PM
$20/class or $165 for a 10-class card

Train your body for a broad range of movement possibilities, empowering you to explore and travel through the rugged terrain of New York City or any urban space with an increased flow! This course seeks to enhance the mover’s kinesthetic and spatial awareness as it relates to an urban environment. We will focus on strength, endurance, alignment, efficiency, range of motion, and artistry. Throughout the semester we will touch on somatic and condition practises including yoga, gymnastics, trampoline, Bartenieff Fundamentals, and Pop Action.

Get ready to POP to the next level! Designed to challenge the intermediate to advanced POPACTION technician, STREB REP is focused on individual as well as group POPACTION proficiency. Come have fun and hone your skills as we revisit works such as “Wall”, “Add”, “Link”, “Ground Level”, “Log”, and more!
Prerequisite: Experience in POPACTION classes.
